C95’s Teacher of the YEAR!

AWARDED TO SASKATOON TEACHER
MR. BLAIR GILLIES

C95 and Saskatoon Teachers’ Association presented a Saskatoon teacher with C95’s Teacher of the Year award.

Mr. Blair Gillies, a grade three teacher at St. Lorenzo Ruiz School, received a $10,000 cash prize. He was grateful and humbled by the recognition.

“Wow. This is a huge, huge surprise. This is my first year at St. Lorenzo and I don’t think I would’ve had the year I’ve had if you hadn’t been so welcoming. This is truly an honour. It was really special hearing some of those words from my students. I love you guys. This is amazing.”

Mr. Gillies’s grade three class was with him for the award presentation and eagerly showed their appreciation for their teacher.

“Mr. Gillies is my favourite teacher I have ever had. He does fun things with us and they are always super awesome. He makes learning fun and he always makes me feel safe.” wrote current student, Alex, in his nomination.

C95 received thousands of nominations at C95.com from students and parents. “We continue to be amazed each year by the number of nominations we receive. Even more by the warmth and gratitude for our teachers highlighted in every, single nomination. We are so proud of all our teachers after another extraordinary year,” said Saskatoon Teachers’ Association President, John McGettigan.
