Remembrance Day

November 11 is Remembrance Day.

The Memorial Day, originally called Armistice Day, marks the end of hostilities during the First World War and honours all those who have served, and continue to serve our country during times of war, conflict and peace.

Every 11 November at 11:00 a.m., we remember.

Government House – Special Presentation “Tommy Goes to War” Nov. 9^th. The Provincial Capital Commission invites you to join us as we mark Remembrance Day and honour the legacy of the Canadian Forces and the men and women who serve our country with acclaimed story performer Vincent Murphy’s one-person performance, “Tommy Goes to War.”

Wear a poppy:  The Poppy Campaign is very much a local initiative, conducted by Legion Branches in cities, towns and communities across the country. Donations collected during the Poppy Campaign are held in Trust at the branch level to directly support Veterans and their families within their community and to help ensure Canadians ‘never forget’.

In the days leading up to November 11, Poppies can be seen in every corner of this great country. This show of support and display of remembrance would not be possible without the efforts of thousands of Legionnaires and Cadets who volunteer to distribute Poppies to the community through schools, community organizations and local businesses.

Attend a Remembrance Day ceremony as a way to honour those who served and continue to serve Canada.

Take a moment to reflect on the freedoms and peace in your life.

At 11:00 a.m. pause for two minutes of silence to reflect and remember the men and women who served and sacrificed for all we have today.
